Hoping top carry on his good form from the Bulgarian Open Sam was optimistic going into the first round of the UK Championship. His first opponent was Aditya Mehta and Sam put himself in a strong position by opening up a 4-0 lead. Never having lost a match from this position before Sam should have been confident of victory.......However, snooker has a way of bringing you down with devastating effect and so it was to be this time! Aditya was able to turn fortunes around to lead 5-4 after some timely missed reds from Sam and some good play from Ahitya. Sam then drew level but in the deciding frame he got a kick whilst on a break which gave Aditya the opportunity to snatch victory, which he duly did.
Putting the disappointment of the UK behind him Sam made short work of Paul S Davidson in the first round of Euro 5 winning 4-1 from 10 down capping his win with a 133 break. In the next round Sam came up against a man in great form, Sam started well to lead 2-1 with breaks of 127 and 67 only for Marco to hit a purple patch to take the next three frames with breaks of 68, 147 & 83 to win 4-2, Marco went on the win the tournament. Next up the German Masters qualifiers before the Christmas break.
