Early exits in both the PTC finals against Mark King 4-2 and Stuart Bingham 5-3 in the China Open is not good for boosting the confidence for the impending World Championships. In the latter event the World Champion showed his class when 2-0 in arrears by posting breaks of 78, 143, 119 & 109 to turn the match 4-2 in his favour. Sam stopped the rout to peg back to 4-3 down and almost drew level in the next frame. On the positive side, qualification for these past two events brought in much needed prize money to elevate Sam in the rankings. Also an early bath means a few more days preparation for the big one!
